What Supports Will You Have at Wes? And When Can You Arrive?

Over the past couple of months, you have learned about the many resources available at Wesleyan, from the Academic Peer Advisors (APAs), to Davison Health Center, Accessibility Services, the Writing Workshop, and Residential Life.

Today, I’d like to shine a spotlight on two more crucial support systems on campus.

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)
Comprised of licensed counselors and clinical psychologists, CAPS is dedicated to providing comprehensive, short-term mental health support to all Wes students throughout the academic year, with routine clinical services resuming at the start of fall classes.

Office of Religious and Spiritual Life (ORSL)
I also encourage you to explore the offerings of the Office of Religious and Spiritual Life (ORSL) for those so inclined. Whether you’re seeking a faith-based community or aiming to enhance your spiritual well-being without a specific religious affiliation, the chaplains at ORSL are available as a confidential resource to provide support whenever you need it. To help us get a sense of the communities and practices at Wesleyan, please be sure you complete the Religious & Spiritual Life Survey in the orientation app.

Our ultimate goal is to ensure you make the most of your time at Wesleyan. A key aspect of achieving this lies in understanding the support structures available to complement your journey. For instance, if you’re interested in majoring in math, you can participate in the peer tutoring program either as a tutor or a student—both roles offer valuable educational benefits. Similarly, if you’re heavily involved in theater, CAPS can provide supportive therapy to help enhance your stress management skills for stage performances.
