Dear Transfer in the Class of 2028,
Course pre-registration opens tomorrow, July 30, and will run until August 14 at noon ET. Please know what when you “rank” classes during pre-registration, the system holds everything static until the process runs on August 14. So, getting into the system sooner does not mean you’ll increase your chances of getting certain courses; that happens with your overall ranking. After the 14th, you’ll be assigned TWO classes. On the 18th, you’ll see your classes and have a short window to adjust the schedule. Beyond that, you will meet your advisor(s) during orientation, and the entire add/drop system will open on September 4 for two weeks.
Unfortunately, you will be pre-registering on a brand new system, and I don’t have a good understanding of how that works. That’s because I can’t see, like a student can, the different windows and processes that will be involved of Phase III of the academic roadmap and pre-registration. I’ll be learning as you will. At this stage, especially for Jr transfers, declaring a major this summer is tantamount to all else. I still have not heard our new computer system is ready to accept new majors, so you’ll have to keep communicating with your department about that over the next few weeks. Doing some research now will help you select classes that align with your interests and meet early requirements for certain majors. The Academic Road Map details majors with specific early requirements, so refer to this resource as often as necessary.
During orientation, you will have an opportunity to meet with your faculty advisor to further discuss course selection.
