Dear Students,
I want to follow up on the recent email regarding the Student Handbook with one important policy update. The Educational Policy Committee (EPC) recently passed a new policy regarding the use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) in coursework. Unless explicitly permitted by your instructor, the use of generative AI in the production of coursework submitted for evaluation is a violation of the Honor Code.
When AI use is permitted, students are expected to appropriately acknowledge their use of these tools. Because expectations may vary by course, please be sure to review your course syllabus and follow your instructor’s specific guidance regarding Generative AI. When in doubt, ask your instructor before using AI for coursework.
