I am positive you are all excited about transitioning to life on campus. The deadline is coming up for letting Residence Life know a little about yourself before they make assignments. Don’t miss the deadline!
Remember! You should use the Orientation App for keeping track of your responsibilities over the summer. You get to the app by going through WesPortal. Once logged into WesPortal, select the “Online Orientation” link to access your online orientation and resources modules and to complete your required enrollment tasks. Online orientation must be fully completed to successfully enroll into the University.
Reminders:
- If you are interested in a First Year Seminar this summer, sign up by the 19th of June! See this link for more information. Summer courses for the incoming class will take place online from Monday, July 8 through Tuesday, August 13. The course registration process will be open to incoming first-years over the summer via their Academic Road Map. (Deadline: JUNE 19, 2024)
- Complete Academic Road Map Phase #1 (Deadline: June 27, 2024)
- Students who have, or suspect they may have, a disability for which they would like to request accommodations, should complete the Disability Notification and Accommodation Request Form (Deadline June 27, 2024).
- Submit your Housing Preference Form via the Orientation app. (Deadline: June 27, 2024)
- Religious & Spiritual Life Survey via the Orientation app. (Deadline: June 27, 2024)
- Update Parent/Guardian Contact Info via the Orientation app. (Deadline: June 27, 2024)

Extra Credit! If you are eager to spend your time productively this summer (and now!) you can begin reading our First-Year Book, Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer. The reading will be due July 30.
The Common Reading response is designed as a tool for you to begin articulating your synthesis of the book and will be made available to the faculty and staff that will be leading the group discussions during orientation. The submission deadline for the Common Reading responses is 5:00 pm on Friday, August 16. You will need to read the book and submit your response by this date in order to be fully prepared to engage with the material and get the most out of orientation.
