Fall Semester Prep: Meeting Your Advisor, Important Reminders, and Orientation Updates

As you plan your fall semester, meeting with your liberal arts faculty advisor is a key step. This person is your true first academic advisor at Wesleyan.  They can help with class choices and ensure a balanced start. Advisor meetings also help you connect personally. Learn about their background for tailored advice 

When do I know who my advisor is? Faculty advisors will be assigned and hopefully downloaded into WesPortal by August 20, 2024. Don’t be alarmed if you hear from them first. They’ll know assignments before you! Individual Faculty Advisor meetings (individual and group) happen August 29 starting at 9:30 a.m. EDT. (See WesNest for details.)

You can make the most of your advisor meeting by preparing the following:

  • Exploring the academic catalog (WesMaps) for courses that interest you.
  •  Preparing questions about WesMaps and the drop/add period.
  • Reflecting on your semester goals or long-term plans. Get ready for the questions: “What do you want to do here at Wesleyan? What are your plans for life?”

Please Remember: Start using the Wesleyan email account we gave you if you haven’t done so already!  I cannot respond to non-Wesleyan email addresses at this point. 

Please, please get in the habit of reading the Class of 2028 blog.

For admin tasks, check your Orientation App and WesPortal for action items. Enroll for the semester by clicking “Enroll Me” in WesPortal starting August 28 – a simple step confirming your presence.

In addition, below are a few reminders for you:
• Complete AlcoholEDU and Sexual Assault Prevention for Undergraduate Students via EverFi. Reach out to WesWell, the Office of Health Education, for any queries.
• Submit the Religious and Spiritual Life Survey if you have not.
• Drop/Add period: Aug 26 – Sept 9.
• Arrival Day: August 28


Getting excited about Orientation
It’s finally here! (Virtual) Orientation events have started, people are arriving on campus soon, and your journey at Wes is soon to begin!


To that end, we have a few important notes and events regarding Orientation!
• Orientation events are being published to WesNest. (Access through WesPortal.)
• To view the schedule on your mobile device, you should download Corq.
• Pre-arrival Virtual Orientation happens 3:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. (EDT) on Aug 26. (Check WesNest for times and Zoom links.)
• Information regarding Arrival Day was emailed to students and parents/families earlier this month.
• Arrival Day information is posted on the Orientation Program Website
